Overview of Ableton Live and Logic Pro

1. ABLETON LIVE :

Ableton Live is a popular DAW for electronic music producers, DJs, and performers, with a unique workflow based on two views, Session and Arrangement, allowing users to experiment and improvise with musical ideas, and a wide range of instruments, effects, and sample libraries for real-time manipulation. It's designed for both live performances and studio productions, offering an intuitive interface and powerful features.

2. LOGIC PRO X :

Logic Pro X is a popular DAW developed by Apple for macOS, offering tools for recording, editing, mixing, and mastering audio and MIDI tracks. Its extensive collection of virtual instruments, effects, and sample libraries can be customized to create unique sounds. Featuring a user-friendly interface, advanced automation capabilities, and third-party plugin support, Logic Pro X is widely used by musicians, producers, and sound designers across various genres.

Introduction to music theory

GIVING a strong foundation in music theory for a career in music production, learning scales, intervals, chords, progressions, and melodies for creating memorable compositions.

Understanding instruments and their timbre.

Special sessions in this course cover understanding timbre of instruments and selecting optimal sound for arrangements or projects.

Ear training sessions

Ear training sessions are exercises designed to improve a person's ability to identify and reproduce musical sounds. Through a variety of techniques, such as interval recognition and chord identification, ear training can enhance a musician's musical skills and overall understanding of music. Regular ear training sessions can lead to greater musical proficiency and creativity.

Recording & Producing Vocals

Students will learn the fundamentals of recording and producing vocals and instruments, including microphone selection and placement, signal flow, and gain staging. They will gain an understanding of timbre and nature to produce high-quality recordings, and learn how to apply these techniques to create polished productions.

Understanding synthesis and sound design

Students learn about sound synthesis using ANALOG GEAR or DIGITAL PLUG-INS, with techniques like additive, subtractive, FM, and granular synthesis. Sound synthesis has revolutionised music production, giving rise to new genres and styles of music.

Introduction to sampling and audio effects! Manipulating audio using audio effects in Ableton Live and Logic Pro

An introduction to one of the backbone of music production SAMPLING.

Students will be provided with a template on audio sampling techniques to create unique sounds for music production. They will also learn how to create their own audio effects, using EQ, compression, reverb, delay, and distortion, and apply them to enhance the sound quality of their audio and build their own organic library of sounds.

Introduction to mixing

Learn advanced mixing techniques and create dynamic, polished mixes that stand out in the competitive music industry with hands-on training and practical tips provided by this course.

Introduction to mastering

Acquire advanced audio mastering techniques and apply them to achieve a professional and polished final mix with personalized feedback provided in this course, covering multiband compression, EQ, limiting, and stereo widening.

Understanding different genres of music

Gain a comprehensive understanding of music production techniques and tools across multiple genres, including electronic, hip hop, rock, and more, to prepare for success in the dynamic and diverse field of music production with this course.

Final assessment

Collaborate and create a new conceptual song, with an emphasis on creativity, production skills, and collaboration, assessed at the end of the course, during five dedicated studio days.
